March 16, 2017 was the night of our first showcase event and it was AMAZING! At the start of the day I remember feeling so nervous about the turnout, hoping people would even like my art.
.. I just started painting in August of 2016, so in reality it's been less than 6 months.. not that I wasn't confident in my abilities, it's just a new sense of vulnerability when you display your work for people to critique. ("I'm an artist and I'm sensitive bout' my shit) so I wasn't sure what to expect feedback wise..BUT!
The night couldn't have went better, people came all throughout the night to take pictures and see the face behind the art, I got teary eyed for a moment, it was such a humbling experience.
People don't understand how far support goes, just to feel appreciated, admired.. it's a great feeling.
I appreciate the people who take the time out to show love while I'm still finding my way.
I'm so looking forward to the next event and I know it'll be even bigger and better!
